TIME TO PUT ON PINK! October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and with your help, we want to show our support by increasing awareness and raising funds for breast cancer research.
Breast Cancer Can Affect Anyone
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. In fact, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Each year, it’s estimated that over 220,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States alone with 40,000 succumbing to the disease.
Although it’s rare, men may also be diagnosed with breast cancer—approximately 2,150 cases are diagnosed each year.
One of our team members, Theresa, is a breast cancer survivor! Theresa has been cancer free for four years and we are very proud of her. She’s always had a great attitude and that helped her to get through it. My mother-in-law is also a breast cancer survivor. She, too, has been cancer-free for about 5 years now. We feel it is important to help support groups who are trying to find a cure! Did you know that in the dental field the majority of employees are women? This breast cancer awareness campaign is our way to try and help them and all other people suffering from this disease.
Medical Advancements Are Providing Hope
Thanks to increased awareness and advancements in screening, early detection, and treatment, death rates from breast cancer have been declining—giving more and more women hope for survival.
Put On Pink And We’ll Donate!
This month, we’re asking our patients to show their support for breast cancer research and “Put On Pink”! Throughout the month, you can pledge to post a photo of yourself wearing pink on your personal social media accounts. By taking the challenge, you promise to take a photo of yourself wearing pink in support of breast cancer research, post it to your personal social media accounts, and tag our practice in the post. For every post we’re tagged in, we will make a contribution to breast cancer research.
We will be donating $5.00 for every person who posts a picture wearing pink and tags it to our Facebook wall (only one post per person, please). We will be donating to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. We will run this promotion until November 17th, 2015. So, put your pink on, start taking photos and tag us on our Facebook wall!
